Spicy Sambal Prawn Recipe


Spicy sambal prawn is a typical food cuisine recipe for the Malay households in Malaysia. A tasty prawn dish with hot and spicy sambal paste. This dish is often served together as a side dish with Nasi Lemak or bioled rice. 

Ingredients

500g Prawns (Medium Size)
60g Shallots
5 Garlic Cloves
½ tsp Roasted Prawn Paste
10 Dry Chillies (Cut and boiled in hot water)
50g Tamarind Juice (from 200ml water)
100g Onion (Sliced)
2 Tomatoes (Cubed)
½ tsp Salt
1 tbsp Chopped Coriander Leaves
100ml Oil
1 tbsp Sugar

Method

1. Blend dry chillies with garlic, shallots and prawn paste together with a little bit of water.
2. Peel and clean the prawns leaving the tail.
3. Heat up oil and fry the onions together with chili paste until the sambal releases the oil in small flame.
4. Add in the prawns, tamarind juice and season with salt.
5. Add in tomatoes and Coriander leaves and stir well.
6. Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
